accessibility
The REMY website has been designed from the ground up to be accessible to all users, in accordance with the requirements of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Accessibility Adjustments for Service), 2013, and based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
The website uses semantic HTML with proper tag structure and content hierarchy. Additionally, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes have been implemented to ensure users who rely on screen readers can navigate, understand, and enjoy the site’s functionality.
Images include ALT tags that provide clear and simple descriptions of their content.
The site is compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Decorative elements are hidden from screen readers to avoid unnecessary clutter.
Keyboard Navigation Support:
The site supports full keyboard navigation, including:
- Tab and Shift + Tab for moving between elements
- Arrow keys for operating menus and dropdowns
- Esc to close menus
- Enter to activate buttons and links
- Arrow keys and Space/Enter to navigate and select radio buttons and checkboxes
We’ve ensured the visual order of items matches their navigation order using the Tab key, and that the keyboard focus indicator is clearly visible.
Internal pages feature both a main menu and breadcrumb navigation for improved orientation.
Keyboard users can also find quick navigation and skip-to-content links.
Links are emphasized using color and font weight.
Text contrast is high throughout the site for better readability, especially for users with visual impairments.
Audio and Video:
No audio is played automatically, preventing discomfort for users with hearing aids.
Video content is accompanied by text descriptions to support hearing-impaired users.
Accessibility Interface – Personalization Options:
Some elements are not fully accessible by default. For this reason, we’ve added an accessibility interface that allows users to customize the website to their specific needs.
You can access it by clicking the blue accessibility icon (wheelchair symbol) in the lower right corner of the screen.
Customized settings are saved on the user’s device for 30 days, so they don’t need to be reselected daily. The following options are available to provide the best possible experience for every user:
- Color Profile Adjustments – The default color scheme is designed for clarity and readability. Users may also switch to high contrast, inverted contrast, or light background modes.
- Text Adjustments – Users can increase text size and switch from decorative fonts to a more readable sans-serif font.
- Animations – To avoid triggering epilepsy symptoms, the site contains no background videos. Subtle page and element animations can be disabled with a single click.
- Mouse Pointer – A unique round cursor is enabled by default; users can switch to a standard pointer through the accessibility interface.
- Link Highlighting – Users can underline all links for easier recognition.
- External Link Behavior – By default, external links open in a new tab (target=”_blank”). This can be changed to open in the same window via the accessibility settings.
Browser Compatibility and Assistive Technology:
We strive to support the widest possible range of browsers and assistive technologies so that our users can choose the tools that work best for them with minimal limitations.
We support all major browsers representing over 95% of market share, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and Microsoft Edge.
We also support screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA on both Windows and Mac platforms.
Feedback and Suggestions:
Despite our best efforts, some pages or content may still be partially inaccessible or currently undergoing accessibility updates. There may also be limitations due to available technologies.
If you encounter any issues, need help using any part of the site, or have ideas for improvement, we’d love to hear from you.
